The Cardiff University Investment Club is a hedge fund society launching at Cardiff University in the 2024/25 academic year.

 

The Cardiff University Investment Club will launch two funds that will trade securities with paper money to achieve maximum returns whilst deploying hedging strategies to minimise risk.

 

The first fund will focus on special situations, event driven investing and the second will be a quant trading fund, utilising algorithmic trading techniques and mathematical theory to identify and take advantage of mispricing in the financial markets.

The roles within the Cardiff University Investment Club will emulate the demands of a professional working environment in order to reward students with relevant experience and a foundation for a career in high finance. Students will be allocated to one of five departments: Operations, Risk, Trading, Investment, and Quant. More information about these teams will be published in due course.

 

Our committee will be overseen by the board of advisors, comprised of industry experts that will assist the committee on the running of both the funds and the society.

We are planning multiple events, talks and workshops with industry experts both in Cardiff and in London.

 

We are currently working on developing partnerships with leading finance and fintech companies, as well as the best university finance societies across other UK universities.
